Our client is a well-established leader in pipeline construction, offering expertise in both conventional and trenchless methods. With significant experience in micro-tunnelling, deep shaft works, and service installations, they have built strong relationships across the industry. Their clients include public and private sector organisations responsible for critical water and utility infrastructure.

The Role

They are seeking an experienced and proactive Safety Advisor with a solid background in civil construction to join the team on a high-profile water and sewerage project in Sydney. The scope of this project includes civil and pipework, mechanical and electrical installations, as well as tunnelling operations. This key role involves working closely with the Project Safety Manager and project teams to uphold the highest health, safety, and compliance standards.


Key Responsibilities
  • Stay up to date with WHS regulations and industry standards.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of safety management plans and systems.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments to ensure WHS compliance.
  • Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to project teams on safety best practices.
  • Participate in incident investigations and near-miss analyses, ensuring timely reporting and follow-up actions.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to safety performance.
  • Assist in developing and delivering Prestarts, Toolbox Talks, and relevant health and safety training.
  • Support project-related injury rehabilitation and return-to-work programs.
  • Assist with induction processes and maintain worker competency records.
To be successful:
  • Certificate IV (or higher) in Workplace Health & Safety.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Safety Advisor on large-scale construction projects in Australia.
  • Strong understanding of WHS legislation, construction safety requirements, and risk management processes (hazard identification, root cause analysis).
  • Proven ability to deliver safety training and foster a safety-first culture.
  • Proficiency in safety management software and Microsoft Office 365.
Certifications:
  • Current Driver’s Licence.
  • General Construction Induction Card (White Card).
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
  • ICAM Investigation Training (or equivalent).
  • Rehabilitation and Return to Work (preferred).
