The Opportunity
This is a rare chance to step into a leadership role within a forward-thinking organisation. Based in either Brisbane or Sydney, you’ll oversee and grow the contaminated land management team while delivering high-impact projects. You’ll work on diverse, challenging assignments across multiple sectors, helping clients achieve sustainable and compliant outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and expand the contaminated land management capability, including recruiting and mentoring team members.
- Design and manage field programmes, including safety planning, soil and water sampling, and drilling supervision.
- Develop operational procedures and quality assurance plans for sampling and analysis.
- Prepare detailed reports and technical documentation to meet regulatory and client standards.
- Act as the proposal and project lead, ensuring smooth delivery of contaminated land projects.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver tailored, practical solutions.
- Maintain a strong focus on health, safety, and regulatory compliance in all activities.
- A degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Certification as a Certified Environmental Practitioner (CEnvP) or eligibility to obtain it.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant Australian legislation, including the Environmental Protection Act 1994 and National Environment Protection Measures.
- Extensive experience in contaminated land management and environmental consultancy.
- Strong technical expertise in contaminated land assessment, fieldwork, and reporting.
- Proven experience in contract management, including drafting, negotiation, and lifecycle optimisation.
- A proven track record in client relationship management and business development.
- A proactive and safety-focused approach, with a strong professional work ethic.
- A current driver’s licence and willingness to travel for field-based projects.
- Certifications in contract management (e.g., CPCM).
- ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems Auditor certification.
- Project management certifications such as PMP or PRINCE2.
