About the Role

Our client is seeking an Asset Engineer to join their supportive and inclusive engineering team, providing technical and operational support for renewables and power generation assets. Reporting to the Senior Asset Engineer, you will work closely with experienced engineers and contribute to a wide range of asset management initiatives, with a focus on driving performance and innovation in the renewable energy sector.

Responsibilities
  • Asset Management – Oversee safety, commercial, and technical performance of renewable assets, focusing on Snowtown Wind Farm (SWF2). Prepare reports and present to the Board.
  • Safety & ESG – Lead safety initiatives, ensuring compliance with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards while engaging with local communities.
  • Risk & Compliance – Maintain the Business and Operational Risk Register, identify risks to asset integrity, and develop mitigation strategies. Ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Financial & Production – Assist with budget preparation, manage operational expenses, monitor asset performance, and produce detailed reports.
  • Technical Support – Provide engineering expertise, support fault finding, optimise systems, respond to failures, and manage service providers.
  • Market & Commercial – Monitor electricity market trends, bidding behaviour, and grid constraints, identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Projects & Innovation – Contribute to new acquisitions, lead capex projects, stay updated on industry trends, and promote continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience in the energy sector, ideally with BESS projects.
  • Knowledge of power generation principles, including synchronous and inverter-based systems.
  • Exposure to commissioning, asset management, and electrical systems such as SCADA, HV/MV/LV equipment, transformers, protection systems, and substations.
  • Familiarity with mechanical systems like rotating plant, hydraulics, and condition monitoring.
  • Experience with safety incident analysis, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a focus on innovative solutions.
  • Understanding of National Electricity Rules, NEM operations, and relevant compliance standards.
