Job Overview
My client an Australian owned international manufacturer of food and beverage products are looking for an experienced Quality Manager to join their team. With some internal restructuring creating this vacancy it’s a great opportunity to join a company that continues to go from strength to strength.
 
Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) systems for all dairy products
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations
  • Conduct internal audits and coordinate external regulatory and third-party audits
  • Oversee product testing, including microbiological, chemical, and sensory analysis
  • Monitor raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to ensure compliance with quality standards
  • Work closely with the production team to maintain hygiene and safety protocols
  • Identify and resolve quality issues during production to prevent defects or contamination
  • Lead and mentor the Quality Control team
  • Work with the NPD and Food Safety Project Manager on training programs for employees on hygiene, food safety, and quality control procedures
  • Investigate and resolve customer complaints related to product quality
  • Implement corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurring issues
  • Work with the sales and marketing team to ensure customer expectations are met
  • Maintain quality records, SOPs, and certifications as per industry and regulatory standards
  • Prepare and submit quality reports to senior management
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging quality standards, and new dairy technologies
  • Trouble shooting of product quality issues and developing corrective actions
  • Ensure all maintenance and or mechanical works are adhering to quality standards
 
Experience and Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in managing Quality and in house laboratory of a food manufacturing facility
  • Qualifications in dairy or food Science
  • A thorough understanding of Food Standards Codes (FSANZ) and food safety regulating bodies DFSV, DAWE and SQF and major retail customers’ quality standards
  • Experience in managing food labelling and product specifications
  • Experience as SQF Practitioner will be advantageous
  • NPD and dairy industry exposure will be advantageous
  • High level of communication, negotiation and leadership skills
  • Superior and efficient problem-solving skills
  • High level computer skills, particularly with MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook
  • Attention to detail in an FMCG environment
